In
the middle of year 2000, the Government of the Republic of
Panama adopted as a national strategy of state the development
of a Logistics Center of transportation, services and industry
in the area of Coco Solito, the Colon Free Zone and Telfers
Island, adjacent to the commercial area. The great project
whose intention is to turn the Colon Free Zone into the Multimodal
Logistics Center of Transportation and International Services,
will allow that new companies of world-wide class can settle
in the free zone with greater access to Latin American consumers
and of the Caribbean; also it will help to replace the Free
Zone in the world-wide market, taking as base, the privileged
geographic position of Panama compared to other free zones,
free ports, special services zones or traffic zones.
The
new available lands for investment are next to the airport,
railway and port facilities, optimizing the time of delivery
to any of the transportation facilities to be used for the
cargo shipment . .
